Pluto Retrograde and Mercury enters Gemini

On April 29, 2:36 PM ET, Pluto stations retrograde in Capricorn. Shortly later, at 6:23 PM ET, Mercury leaves Taurus and enters Gemini.

After a few months with all planets in direct motion, Pluto is the first one to come to a standstill, inviting us to renew, rethink, and redefine our relationship with power and authority, while acknowledging where we are at in our empowerment journey. A few hours later, Mercury enters its domicile of Gemini, speeding up our thought processes while stimulating our curiosity and our desire to learn.

Let’s see in more detail what these shifts are about.

Pluto in Capricorn: Transformation of Inner & Outer Structures

Pluto, named after the mythological God of the Underworld, is the modern ruler of Scorpio. In Astrology, it is connected to our journey of empowerment, evolution, death and rebirth processes. It has to do with all that is unconscious, with shadow work, with the emotional patterns that are at the core of our psychology. Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and this long transit is coming to an end. Pluto is entering Aquarius in 2023 and will remain in the sign for 12-15 years.

During the last few months of Pluto’s journey through Capricorn, we have an opportunity to reflect on the metamorphosis that has been taking place for us so far. Capricorn teaches us to master form and structure, boundaries, and responsibility: it is about our maturation process. The transit of Pluto through the sign has been deeply transforming the structure of society as well as the structure of our consciousness, inviting us to become our own authority and exposing the corruption at the core of those systems and institutions we have been relying on until now.

Pluto retrograde: Renewing our Relationship to Power & Responsibility

When a planet is retrograde, it promotes a process of self-inquiry. It invites us to slow down, turn inwards, and take time to integrate and elaborate on the experiences we had while it was direct. Pluto retrograde represents an opportunity to deepen our shadow work, gain more awareness of the unconscious emotional patterns and attachments that have been leading our lives, confront our fears, and notice where we have been giving our power away and why.

Pluto Retrograde

Pluto stationing retrograde invites reflection, reconsideration, and revision of our relationship to power and responsibility. It invites us to redefine our boundaries and see whether we are leaking energy or giving power away in exchange for a false sense of security. It is an opportunity to see our blind spots and transform patterns of behavior rooted in unconscious fears, traumas, unacknowledged needs and desires.

This transit, lasting until October 8, is a chance to move towards a deeper embodiment, a deeper trust in our personal authority, a deeper authenticity, and deeper responsibility. Pluto stationing retrograde will be felt the most by those of us who have personal planets or angles in the last degrees of Cardinal signs Capricorn, Cancer, Libra, and Aries.

Mercury in Gemini: Curious Mindset

On April 29, the planet of communication, logic, and learning enters its home sign of Gemini, where it is going to remain longer than usual. Mercury stations retrograde in Gemini on May 10, comes back to Taurus, and stations direct there on June 3, to enter Cancer only on July 5.

Mercury in transit reflects our changing orientation relative to logically understanding our reality and ourselves. Gemini is the Air domicile of Mercury: here, the Messenger can express itself comfortably. Gemini is a Mutable Air sign: both Air and Mutability support Mercury’s versatility, love for knowledge, and need for a variety of stimuli.

Mercury’s transit through Gemini invites us to adopt a curious mindset, improves our capacity to adapt and encourages us to listen to different sides of a story in a non-judgmental way. It inspires us to initiate conversations and debates and to exchange opinions with others as a way to learn more about our environment and ourselves.

Mercury enters Gemini: Versatility & Multitasking

While Mercury is in the sign of the Twins, our thinking speeds up, our interests broaden, we are more drawn to communicate and interact with a variety of people and have long conversations about many different topics. The amount of data we gather, process, and share is likely to increase, and our capacity to multitask and be versatile is going to be supported by this transit.

Mercury’s journey through Gemini is favorable for learning, speaking, writing, and all pursuits surrounding sharing of information. Mercury in Gemini supports our analytical and intellectual capacities while encouraging us to see our reality in new ways. Some risks of this transit could be getting lost in an endless search for new data, getting distracted more easily than usual, and failing to deepen the knowledge we already possess.

Navigating Retrogrades & Eclipses

Retrograde season is starting: after Pluto, several other planets will station retrograde. Mercury’s upcoming retrograde in Gemini will encourage us to question our habitual way of thinking, communicating, and learning. When Mercury is retrograde, it is always an invitation to think critically and decondition from outdated ways of perceiving the world: in the sign of Gemini, this may imply questioning where we get our information from, exploring different sources, and embracing unfamiliar ways of making sense of our reality.

Moreover, in just a few hours, we experience a Solar Eclipse in Taurus conjunct Uranus, which opens the Eclipse portal, a time of fast changes, karmic shifts, and shifts of fate. Pluto is the planetary ruler of the Lunar South Node, currently in Scorpio. The South Node ruler informs us of ways of being, psychological patterns, and emotional attachments that we need to release for our evolution to continue. Pluto’s influence will be strong on tomorrow’s Eclipse also because it will still be stationary, which means that it is closer to Earth and its influence is more powerful than usual.

Meanwhile, Mercury on the first degree of Gemini is still in an out of sign trine to Pluto that sharpens our perceptions and aids the psychological integration of what we are going through. The Mercury-Pluto trine has the potential to help us understand ourselves and the purpose of what takes place these days on a deeper, more profound level.

Pluto stations Retrograde: Reclaiming our Power

On April 27, 4:01 PM ET, Pluto stations retrograde at 27° of the sign of Capricorn, just a few hours after the Full Super Moon in Scorpio. Pluto is in retrograde motion for approximately five to six months each year. In 2021, Pluto will be retrograde until October 6, inviting us on a journey within, encouraging us to reclaim our power and confront our fears.

Planetary Retrogrades: Redefinition, Reassessment, and Questioning

Retrogrades consist of the apparent backward motion of a planet: they represent an optical illusion from our perspective on Earth. Astronomically, Pluto is not actually changing the direction it is moving towards.

From an Astrological viewpoint, retrograde cycles are a moment to review, reassess, redefine, and rediscover how we express the energy of the celestial body involved. Retrograde planets promote reflection: they invite an internalization of our focus and our attention, encouraging us to turn within. For this reason, many believe that retrograde planets accelerate the speed of our growth process and individuation journey.

When a planet is retrograde, it promotes questioning and inquiry: it represents a time to gain a new understanding of what happened while the planet was direct and to pull back before moving forward again. Retrogrades inspire us to reject the status quo, as they light up our desire to find out for ourselves, to discover our own way to solve problems rather than conforming to how things have always been done.

Pluto: Evolution, Shadow Work, Pain, and Metamorphosis

Pluto was discovered in 1930, while the atomic bomb was being developed and nuclear energy widely studied, raising concerns about the right and ethical use of this incredible amount of power, previously inaccessible.

In Astrology, Pluto is considered to be the force of evolution. The modern ruler of Scorpio takes its name from the mythological God of the Underworld and catalyzes the deepest collective and individual metamorphosis. Pluto has been associated with our Soul’s evolutionary intentions, with power and powerlessness, with our deepest wounds, our unprocessed pain, and all our unconscious material. Pluto is about self-excavation and shadow work, it is about reclaiming all that we are, the good, the bad, and even the ugly. Pluto forces us to go through challenges to remind us of our capacity to transmute pain into power and strength.

This retrograde cycle will show us where we have been giving our power away. During the upcoming months, Pluto will force us to turn inwards and confront what needs to be transformed, both inwardly and outwardly, to be able to make tangible changes when it will station direct in October.

Pluto in Capricorn: Radical Restructuring

Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will enter Aquarius only in 2023.

Capricorn is about form, limits, boundaries, time, and space. Capricorn corresponds to the structure of society, to external authorities, to socio-economic systems, and to the rules of the game we are playing. Similarly, the sign of the Mountain Goat correlates with the structure of our consciousness, with our maturation process, with our relationship with our inner authority and our capacity to take responsibility for ourselves.

All these areas have been deeply challenged by Pluto. We have all been experiencing radical and tangible changes on different levels, and we have been asked to make different choices, empower ourselves, and reach a deeper level of maturity. This long-term transit has the purpose of completely restructuring our society and, consequently, each of us as individuals: Pluto will do so destroying the systems and patterns that have crystallized and lost meaning.

Pluto stations Retrograde in Capricorn: Discovering our True Desires

The journey of Pluto through Capricorn is creating space for us to build new foundations and setting the stage for radical and long-lasting change. Its yearly retrograde cycle encourages us to redefine our boundaries, limitations, and responsibilities, to reconnect with our power and with a deeper sense of strength, rooted in the awareness of our purpose.

Pluto stationing retrograde in Capricorn calls for the redefinition of our inner and outer reality and invites us to transform the way we interface with time and space. Individually, we are asked to reassess our use of time, break free from old patterns of behaviors, and release crystallized habits that prevent us from trusting our inner authority and taking responsibility for ourselves on all levels. On a collective level, we may see changes in social rules and regulations: limitations, boundaries, and restrictions may be reassessed and re-evaluated by governments and authorities.

Pluto stations Retrograde: Challenging our Conditioning & Confronting our Fears

Until Pluto stations direct in October, we are encouraged to confront ourselves, dive deep into our unconscious, make peace with our fears and challenge them. This retrograde cycle will inspire us to reassess our priorities, our limits, our boundaries, and our rules. Pluto encourages us to reflect upon our energetic investments and upon the motivations, intentions, and desires behind what we do.

This transit gives us the permission to look at the parts of ourselves that we rejected and disowned because they were not considered socially acceptable or appropriate. Capricorn represents the nature of our conditioning. Pluto stationing retrograde in the sign may offer us important psychological insights that may help us break free from unnatural ways of thinking and living that are preventing us from tapping into our fullest potential and actualizing ourselves.

Pluto Retrograde – Taking Power Back

Pluto will be stationing retrograde on April 25th 2020 in the sign of Capricorn.

Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, begins its annual retrograde on April 25th 2020. It will remain in retrograde until October 4th 2020. Pluto’s retrograde is occurring in the sign of Capricorn, which is associated with authority, structure and responsibility.

Understanding Retrogrades

Retrogrades offer an opportunity to look at things in a new way. They give us a different vantage point and they invite us to shift our focus or change directions.

To better understand what occurs during a planetary retrograde, imagine we are sitting on a train looking out the window. Our train speeds past a slower moving train, because we are going faster, while looking out the window it almost appears that the train beside us is moving backwards. But, that is just an illusion, and both trains are in fact moving forward.

Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn:

It’s as if Earth is the fast train moving past Pluto. Looking out from Earth it appears that Pluto is moving backwards, or retrograde. Retrogrades symbolize times of pulling back, re-thinking, re-looking, reviewing and looking within. Like a bow and arrow, we have to pull back before we can shoot forward. A retrograde is that pulling back.

pluto retrograde

It can feel frustrating if we want to force our way forward into the future; but when we recognize that there is a cyclical nature to life we can relax into the ebb and flows of retrogrades.

Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn: Re-Organizing Earth From Within

Pluto in Capricorn has been working to rebuild the ways we organize on planet Earth. It’s transforming who is in charge and who writes the rules. Capricorn energy is associated with leadership and responsibility. Who is leading us? Who are we answering too?

Retrogrades are times of turning within. Pluto’s power is diving deep into our inner realms and reclaiming our deepest selves. We are learning to be our own leaders and to be responsible to ourselves first and foremost.

self-reflection

Right now, we might look out at the external world and wish to change things. We might want to go out and make a difference. While action is always important, looking within ourselves and making deep inner changes is a big part of this transit.

Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn: Being the Pilot

We would not try to steer an airplane from outside the cockpit. Instead, if we want to be a pilot we have to get into the place and take out rightful seat behind the wheel. We can imagine that our bodies are our vessels transporting us through life. If we want to take the lead, we have to get inside ourselves.

This could look like meditating, journaling, eating certain foods, taking a bath or anything that connects us to ourselves.

Pluto in Capricorn + History

Astrological cycles are patterns and themes that flow throughout the centuries. How these themes manifest depends upon many factors and astrology is not necessarily creating events throughout history. Instead, it can help us to understand the context. From there, we can learn how to create the future, rather than having history repeat itself.

The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was from 1762-1778. Many events took place during those years but let’s specifically look at the American Revolution.

Beginning in 1764 the British Government began to impose new laws and taxes such as the Sugar Act, the Stamp Act and the Tea Act. Many colonists opposed these British taxes because they did not have representation in British Parliament.

In 1773, Mass meetings took place in opposition to the Tea Act, however the Royal Governor ordered that the tea taxes be paid. This led to colonials activists dumping a substantial amount of tea into the harbour, an act known as the Boston Tea Party. In response, an angry English Parliament enacted a series of Coercive Acts (also known as Intolerable Acts).

These acts essentially shut down the Boston Port and virtually ended any self-rule by colonists. The English Crown and Royal Governor assumed political power formerly held by the colonists. This led to the First Continental Congress meeting and declaring opposition to the acts. In 1775 the Revolutionary War began when British Military were ordered to disarm rebels and arrest their leaders.

During this time in history we saw citizens questioning the authority of the ruling government. We saw people organizing and aligning with what they believed. We saw taxes and laws imposed that led to activist demonstrations and protests. We saw institutions assuming political power and ending forms of self-rule. We saw opposition to the institution. While we may see echoes of this today, it’s key to remember that we have the power to create a new future.

Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn: Re-Structuring the Systems

In the external world, Pluto Retrograde is showing us what needs revamping. What systems are not working? What leaders do we no longer want to follow? What leaders do we trust? Who are we answering too? What are the rules? Who has to follow them? Why are these the rules?

These are all loaded questions and the answers are not going to come from someone else. The answers will come when we take time to tune into our deeper selves.

Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn: Personal Power

Right now, we are experiencing an opportunity to reclaim our personal power. This does not mean that we need to create a violent revolution or point the blame at others. Instead, we can take responsibility for ourselves. We can connect to our innate creativity. We can prioritize the impact of our thoughts and the realities they manifest. We can write our own personal constitution and live by our own morals.

revolution

There are many cycles occurring today that were not happening in the 1700s. We have more options and potential than in the past.

We are facing a time of unprecedented shifts of consciousness on planet Earth. These waves of light are waiting for us to surf them. We are gaining more and more information about who we are and what it means to be alive on Earth at this time. Instead of waiting for someone or something else to tell us the plan; we have the power to write it ourselves.

During these times, reclaiming happiness (tap to read our article > ‘Taurus Season: Reclaiming Happiness’) is what it’s all about. If we want to change the world, during Pluto retrograde the place to start is within ourselves.

Like a caterpillar, we are asked to turn within in order to transform ourselves. As Pluto stations direct later this year, we will emerge from this cocoon with brand new butterfly wings. Who knows where these wings will carry us.

April Astrology Update – Revolutionary Shifts Continues

April’s astrology continues to usher in the revolutionary shifts of 2020. It’s a month to remember the power of our choices, actions and decisions. We are invited to learn not everything that is real is physical; embracing out multidimensionality will change the world. This month takes courage but we are all here for a reason. We were all born for these times. We are each capable and powerful.

Venus enters Gemini

venus gemini

April’s astrology updates kick off with Venus making moves. Venus, the planet of relationships, harmony and pleasure will receive some uplighting energy as she enters Gemini. However, she is due to retrograde in May. This retrograde will also be occurring in Gemini. Which means that there is much to learn and many ways to grow when it comes to our relationships. This includes our relationships to ourselves, our minds, communication and each other.

The best place to start is our relationships to what’s in the ethers and not always seen. This includes everything from wifi, to our ideas, to our hearts.

Jupiter Conjunct Pluto

jupiter conjunct pluto

April’s astrology is a continuation of the intensity. We’ve been feeling a build up and while this is a climax, the energetic effects will ripple out into the rest of the year. This energy began in January 2020. Take a moment to think back upon everything that has transpired since then. What have we learned? Where have we shifted?

With Mars and Saturn nearby these shifts are sure to be felt. Thankfully the benevolence of Jupiter’s participation is opening the world to unimaginable potential.

We are rebuilding the systems that were established the last time Pluto was in Capricorn which was the in the late 1700s. There is a resurgence of power coming to the masses and this alignment supports the people.

Full Moon in Libra

full moon in libra

April’s astrology is inviting us to look up at the Full Moon in all her glory and see ourselves as a reflection of her perfection.

This full moon is one of independence. We will see the roles we each play while also intimately understanding our connections to all things. Black Moon Lilith and Juno are squaring off. This opposition is inviting us to embrace many sides of ourselves.

We’re asked to realize the varying roles we each play.

The lover, the partner, the badass, the parent, the child, the renegade, the creative, the employee… the list goes on and on.

Mercury in Aries

mercury in aries

April’s astrology includes a shift regarding the energy of Mercury. This is a time of being hyperaware of our communication habits and tendencies. Even though thoughts and words are non physical, they carry immense power. We are invited to harness our full potential by commandeering our minds and journeying along the cutting edge of space and time.

Taurus Season (Sun Enters Taurus)

taurus season sun in taurustaurus season sun in taurus

April’s astrology brings a welcomed shift after the heat of Aries season (March 20-April19). The Sun is illuminating the energy of the steady and stabile Taurus. Our lesson will be to slow down and enjoy some Earthly pleasures.

Taking time to count our blessings may not feel like the easiest thing, and we may feel shell shocked from recent transits. However, if we invest in what feels right and just we will be surprised how quickly positive change can occur.

The Sun’s transit through Taurus will be illuminating the energy of Uranus. Uranus is currently in Taurus and the last time the world saw this transit was 1934 to 1942.  Back then the world saw the end of the great depression. While there is messaging suggesting we are on the verge of a new depression, what if we’ve been in one and now is the time to rise out of it? What if now is the time to reinvent economics are we know it and return to a system built upon true value?

New Moon in Taurus

new moon in taurus

April’s astrology includes a potent New Moon in Taurus. The soils of Taurus are fertile ones and whatever we choose to plant during this alignment will prosper. This is an invitation to choose our seeds wisely.

On Earth we have been led to believe in the material world. We worship brands, purchases and Earthly desires. There is nothing inherently wrong with this and it’s all part of the human experience. However, it’s now mandatory to understand there is more to life than physical gains and the satisfaction of desires.

We are opening our awareness up to a new frequency. Taurus energy is associated with the surface and the tangible. We now have a chance to integrate worlds. This New Moon asks us to embrace our physical and non physical nature. When we live with an energetic awareness we become channels of a new vibration on the planet. The frequency we anchor changes worlds.

Can we see 3D reality as the tip of the iceberg? Can we feel that within everything there is a deeper energy? Can we commit to looking below the surface? Can we embrace change? Can we welcome our multidimensionality?

Ceres enters Pisces

ceres enters pisces

April’s astrology is inviting us to understand Ceres. Ceres’ energy is associated with the mother archetype. She’s how we mother ourselves and how we care for others. The energy of Pisces is sensitive territory. We have all been through an immense journey lately and this transit invites us to get close to our sensitive sides. Like the love of an unconditional mother, Ceres is here to tend to our wounds.

Pluto Retrograde

pluto retrograde

April’s astrology brings an epic and palpable shift. Pluto is serious business, especially in the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn rules the establishment, power and the systems we adhere to. Since 2008 Pluto has been working to rebuild everything that has been enacted since the late 1700s.

We have been witnessing and participating in the dawn of a new age. Now the ball is in our courts and the next move is up to us… Spoiler alert humanity is fully capable of reclaiming the power of the people.

Pallas enters Aquarius

Pallas enters Aquarius

April’s astrology offers a powerful opportunity to foster a relationship to Pallas. Pallas’s energy is associated with the archetype of the father. Pallas energy is reason, logic and the rules. It’s the provider; the one who will pull through for us all.

Of course, not all of us will have had this type of relationship with our human fathers, but as Pallas transits Aquarius we are invited to find support from alternative means. We are invited to reinvent ourselves and who we allow to control us. We are asked to be our own providers.

This transit will highlight our relationship to technology, it’s important to become aware of whether we own our devices, or if they own us.

Stay tuned, we are going to be publishing articles and talking more in depth about each of these events. Comment below if you are excited about what’s to come in this new month of April, and let us know which event you are excited about the most and why? 🙂
