On June 10, 06:52 AM ET, we experience a New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse at 19°42’ of Gemini. Eclipses have long-term effects, they are portals of sudden change, and often mark new beginnings and sudden endings. These powerful alignments catalyze fast and unexpected events that can correlate with pivotal turning points, both in our personal lives and in the history of humanity.
This is the second Eclipse of the current Eclipse season, and the last one happening in the sign of the Twins until 2029. The Solar Eclipse in Gemini follows a Total Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius, begins a new lunar month and a larger six-month cycle of growth, culminating with a Full Moon in Gemini on December 18, 2021.
The Solar Eclipse in Gemini reminds us that our thoughts create our reality. This cosmic event is inviting us not to get too attached to our beliefs and habitual thinking patterns, encouraging us to explore new ways of perceiving our experiences.

The Transformative Effects of Solar Eclipses
A Solar Eclipse is a more intense and transformative New Moon. Like any other New Moon, it inaugurates a new cycle of development and represents a moment to set intentions for the time ahead. The emphasis is now on the intellectual sign of Gemini, a Mutable Air archetype. The prominence of the Mutable modality and the Air element is highlighting the importance of flexibility and adaptability, and bringing up the need to remain available to change our perspective and our strategy.
Solar Eclipses happen two to three times a year when the Moon forms a conjunction with the Sun while they are close to the Lunar Nodes, points in space marking the intersection of the orb of the Moon and the apparent path of the Sun from our perspective on Earth. The Moon travels between the Earth and the Sun, temporarily covering part of the Sun: the fact that, on Solar Eclipses, sunlight can’t reach us has been considered an omen of impending change since the beginning of time.
During an Annular Solar Eclipse, the remaining visible portion of the Sun looks like a ring around the Moon. The Solar Eclipse happening on June 10, 2021, will be at least partly visible from much of Europe, the Northern part of the US and Canada, as well as much of Asia, Northern and Western Africa, and the Arctic. To watch this cosmic event safely, we must protect our eyes with proper gear.
During Eclipse season, the veil between worlds becomes thinner: we have been traversing a portal of unpredictable transformation, a very karmic time in which everything is possible. Taking the time we need to integrate and digest the event taking place now is crucial: we can’t expect to have it all figured out yet. Welcoming any changes in our plans will help us adapt to what happens more peacefully.
Solar Eclipse conjunct the North Node in Gemini: New Learning Cycle
The Lunar Eclipse we experienced on May 26 was a Full Moon happening on the South Node, the point relative to our karmic past. It brought up a feeling of not knowing what to believe in anymore: many of us noticed a sensation of reliving the past in some way, as old fears, patterns, emotions, and behaviors resurfaced.
The Solar Eclipse in Gemini takes place while the Sun and the Moon are on the North Node of the Moon. This point, also referred to as Rahu in Vedic Astrology, correlates with our collective evolutionary direction, with the archetypal qualities we are encouraged to integrate as a way to move away from stagnation and past security attachments that aren’t supporting our growth any longer.
On this Eclipse, many of us are feeling confused and disillusioned: we are experiencing a lot of mental overwhelm and we crave clarity. However, nothing feels certain yet. While the Eclipse has the function of connecting us with our sense of purpose, we are likely to feel there is still something unresolved, and we may feel frustrated as we still have trouble thinking clearly and rationally.
Solar Eclipse conjunct Mercury & square Neptune: Clouded Perceptions
The Sun and the Moon are conjunct retrograde Mercury, and they are all in a square aspect to Neptune, the Master of Illusions. In particular, Mercury square Neptune has been going on since May 20, significantly clouding our perception of reality.
These alignments make it challenging to see things clearly and interpret what we experience in an objective and detached way. Neptune is a transcendental and spiritual planet, which tends to be perceived as vague and confusing. When Neptune is strongly active, it always increases our fantasy and leaves a lot of room for imagination, which can be good or bad.
The archetypal conflict between Gemini and Pisces is currently prominent: the rulers of the two signs, Mercury and Neptune, are both in their domicile and both in aspect to the Sun and the Moon. While Gemini tries to make sense of reality through logic and rationality, Pisces wants us to simply accept what is present and release all efforts to understand it.
The Moon square Neptune loosens our psychic and emotional boundaries: we may be more prone to absorbing other people’s emotions without realizing it, distinguishing what feelings are ours and which ones aren’t may be harder. This aspect reflects heightened sensitivity, receptivity, and impressionability.
The Sun square Neptune reflects confusion around our sense of purpose and the purpose of our experiences. At this point, we may not be able to understand the higher meaning of what we are going through, of the changes we are experiencing, of our growth process. Our self-confidence may suffer from it, and we may feel more insecure around putting ourselves out there or asserting our choices.
Retrograde Mercury square Neptune highlights feelings of disorientation. While Mercury seeks logical understanding, Neptune teaches us to surrender to forces beyond our control, improvise and flow with life rather than trying to make sense of it.
This aspect reminds us to trust our intuition, and that inspiration can come from unexpected places. Cutting distractions, spending time in stillness, connecting with Nature, and avoiding excessive use of technology will help us remain calmer and more centered, and cultivate faith in whatever life brings on our path.

New Moon Solar Eclipse trine Saturn: Discipline and Boundaries
The Sun, the Moon, and retrograde Mercury in Gemini are in a loose trine to Saturn in Aquarius, also in retrograde motion. Trines are supportive alignments that reflect an easy flow of energy between celestial bodies occupying signs of the same element, in this case, Air.
Retrograde Saturn in Aquarius promotes the process of questioning our current thinking and communication patterns. This transit supports us in restructuring the way we intellectually relate with and interpret reality and putting our ideas into discussion to see if they are still valid and useful.
Saturn helps us set boundaries relative to the information we take in and the amount and quality of social interactions we participate in, reminding us to choose the frequency we want to align with and not compromise on that. The trine between the Eclipse and Saturn facilitates healthy discipline and helps us avoid excessive distractions, to bring us closer to a deeper level of integrity and self-mastery.
Meanwhile, we are experiencing one of the peak moments of the signature transit of 2021. Saturn is forming a square aspect to Uranus in Taurus, which will be exact on June 14 but is already active. Their alignment corresponds to the need to deal with the resistance we encounter as we try to challenge the existing structure and build new ones that better resonate with our individuality. We may experience conflict with authority figures, and a sudden urge to break free from limitations may result in impulsive actions and unexpected confrontations.
New Moon Solar Eclipse in Gemini: Finding Peace amid Chaos
During these days, many of us are likely to notice a sense of dissonance between the ideas and beliefs we are attached to and the new information that is emerging, contradicting what we considered to be true, challenging something we have built a sense of security upon.
At this time, we are encouraged to be present with the feeling of not knowing and accept our current inability to make complete sense out of what we are experiencing, rather than trying to force the immediate resolution of situations that are causing discomfort. Uncovering lies may be a common experience, and feelings of disillusionment and deception may result.
The sense of blurriness and fogginess is likely to unravel and give space to more clarity after Mercury has stationed direct, on June 22, and especially after it completes its third square to Neptune, on July 7. Until then, the lesson is to find ways to connect to a sense of inner peace amid chaos and confusion. We are learning to navigate through possible misunderstandings by striving to be as authentic as possible, as honest as possible, both with ourselves and others.
