On July 2, 05:17 PM —

On July 2, 06:40 AM EST, Neptune stations retrograde at 29º55’ of Pisces, inviting us on a journey inward and offering us an opportunity to reflect on what is coming to an end in our lives and how we are relating to the process of letting it go. Both Saturn and Neptune are now retrograde in Pisces, inviting us to slow down and make sure we don’t leave unsolved business behind.

Those individuals born with natal placement in the late degrees of Mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces will feel this transit more strongly. The people personally impacted by Neptune’s upcoming retrograde will have opportunities to deepen their spiritual exploration and allow what is coming to an end in their lives to dissolve. They will have chances to release their existing attachment to identities, values, and comfort zones and learn to quietly sit in the space of not yet knowing what comes next.

Neptune in Pisces: A Cycle is Ending

Neptune has been in Pisces since 2011 and is going to enter Aries on March 30, 2025, come back briefly to Pisces on October 22, 2025, and come back to Aries to stay on January 26, 2026. These are the last few months of a journey that began 13 years ago, a journey that has changed each of us and the entire collective in subtle, maybe invisible, yet meaningful ways. We all feel that something big is ending or shifting, but we may still have challenges pointing out exactly how, especially considering the elusive nature of both Neptune and Pisces.

Both Pisces and Neptune are transpersonal archetypes and Pisces is Neptune’s home sign in modern Astrology. Pisces is the last sign of the Zodiac wheel, it is the place where the self-concept we built during the previous eleven stages dissolves and the separate ego becomes part of the greater whole: here, there are no boundaries, no separation. Pisces brings us back to the cosmic womb where we all come from and where we will all go back to.

Neptune is associated with the impulse to transcend the limitations of the human experience and the boundaries of material reality to connect with something greater than us. This planet inspires our spiritual quest, fuels our desire to know the Truth with a capital T, and connects us with our essential nature through states of flow, stillness, and inner contemplation.

Pisces and Neptune symbolize how something that happens in the collective, even far away from us, has the power to impact us on a personal, emotional, and energetic level, they remind us of how we are all connected to each other, how ultimately separation is an illusion.

Neptune retrograde in Pisces: Journey Inward

Stationary planets, both retrograde and direct, appear to be at a standstill from our perspective on Earth, hence, they spend a longer time than usual on a certain degree of the Zodiac. Neptune has slowly come to a stop at 29º55’ of Pisces and is now ready to begin his retrograde in the sign, which is going to end on December 7, when Neptune is going to stop again at 27º07’ of Pisces.

Stationary planets are closer to us and their energy is felt more powerfully. When Neptune is stationary, our intuition, our sixth sense, and our psychic sensitivity are stronger, the veil gets thinner, and the doors of perception are open. These days, our dreams may contain important messages and information, and the Universe may deliver guidance through synchronicities and repeating signs.

Neptune is in retrograde motion for roughly five months every year. All retrogrades invite reflection, reassessment, and redirection, and remind us of the importance of taking time to digest and integrate what happened while the planet was direct.

When a planet goes retrograde, we are encouraged to direct its energy inward: Neptune retrograde in Pisces invites us to embody a meditative and contemplative state and offers us an opportunity to connect more deeply with our true selves and our spirituality.

The 29º anaretic degree: What it Means and Why it Matters

Neptune’s shift of motion is activating the 29º of Pisces, the last degree of Pisces, and also the last degree of the entire Zodiac wheel. The 29º of any sign is technically referred to as the anaretic degree, and it is considered to be a point of both crises and opportunities, a point that suggests impending radical change is about to happen. When we arrive at the 29º degree of a sign, we have almost completed a learning process and have an opportunity to access a deeper understanding of the meaning of the entire planet’s transit through that sign. This is even more the case since we are dealing with the last degree of the last sign of the Zodiac.

We can say that planets in the early degrees of a sign, especially the 0º, are at the beginning of their evolutionary process while those at the late degrees, particularly the 29º, have completed a phase of evolution and they are now transitioning to a new chapter. This symbolism reflects the transition that is happening right now in the collective, especially because Neptune is a transpersonal planet, one that marks generational cycles and deals with themes and energies beyond the personal, beyond the individual.

For this reason, the activation of the 29º of Pisces suggests that these days important decisions need to be made and karmic lessons are likely to present themselves.

Sabian Symbol for Pisces 30: Our Relationship with the Ideal

Sabian Symbols are 360 symbolic images, each associated with a specific degree of the Zodiac. Created by astrologer Marc Edmund Jones and clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler in 1925, these symbols provide additional insights and guidance for each degree of the Zodiac wheel and help us gain a more nuanced understanding of transits and events.

The Sabian Symbol for the 29º of Pisces is Pisces 30: “A majestic rock formation resembling a face is idealized by a boy who takes it as his ideal of greatness, and as he grows up, begins to look like it”. This symbol was inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s story “The Great Stone Face”.

The Sabian Symbol of Pisces 30 offers us an invitation to reflect on our relationship to the archetypal and the ideal, as well as on what “greatness” represents to us. The activation of this degree is an opportunity to observe how we relate to what inspires us, to those ideals, virtues, and values that we aspire to embody. It is a reminder of the power of what we hold in high regard, of the power of being intentional about what we idealize, what we aspire to be, and what we choose as a reference point as it will shape the course of our personal and spiritual development.

Within the context of Neptune ending his transit through Pisces, this symbol can be seen as an invitation to pay attention to how our ideals are changing, what ideals and values we are detaching from, what is losing meaning, and what we learned from experiences of disillusionment proximate to ideals and values we were previously attached to. It can also be a reminder of the dangers of idealization when it comes to other humans.

Neptune retrograde in Pisces: The Answers Within

As Neptune is about to leave his home sign, he stations retrograde for the last portion of his journey here. Neptune stationing at the 29º of Pisces is an extremely significant event. A large collective cycle is coming to a close, however, we are not yet ready for this transition, we have to make sure we don’t leave unfinished business behind, and we have to make sure we have integrated and applied the lessons we learned.

Neptune’s shift of motion invites us to question our habitual approach to spiritual exploration, motivating us to search for answers within ourselves and deepen our relationship to our inner world, to the Sacred, to the mystery.
Neptune retrograde in Pisces is an opportunity to redefine our relationship with our spiritual practice as well as our spiritual values and reflect on the ideals we aspire to embody or orient our lives toward. This transit is an invitation to refine our attunement to Truth and to our intuition and deepen our ability to discern between the whispers of our intuition and the voice of our fears.
