On April 8, 07:03 AM —

On April 12, 8:21 PM EST, a Full Moon at 23º19’ of Libra lights up the night sky. Just a few minutes after the Full Moon peaks, Libra’s ruler Venus stations direct in Pisces, marking a turning point in our journey of personal and relational maturation. This Full Moon, tightly opposing Chiron, acts as a “mirror on the wall”, revealing unhealed wounds, dysfunctional patterns, and deep truths about ourselves and our relationships.

The Full Moon in Libra is particularly relevant for individuals born with personal placements around the 23º of Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn). The individuals personally impacted by this Full Moon are more likely to experience turning points and revelations that strongly impact their lives and relationships. They will be able to see with clarity the root of long-standing relational patterns as well as changes and adjustments that need to be made to achieve greater alignment and harmony.

We invite you to watch our hour long video on our YouTube channel together with Nina where she walks us through the powerful energies of April and Full Moon in Libra.

Full Moon in Libra: Opportunity to See Clearly

Once a month, Full Moons offer us an opportunity to see something normally unconscious. As the Moon moves directly across the Sun, the sunlight illuminates what has been going on beneath the surface. Full Moons are the peak moment of the lunar cycle: they facilitate emotional releases and come with a sense of culmination or closure. These events offer us the chance to integrate what we have learned and encourage us to let go of what no longer serves our growth.

On a Full Moon, the Sun and the Moon are in an exact opposition, a 180º degree angle. Oppositions are aspects of awareness, revelation, and clarity. When two planets directly face one another, we have an opportunity to see with greater precision both ourselves in the other and the other in ourselves. This is especially true when a Full Moon happens in Libra, the sign of “we”, directly opposing Aries, the sign of “me”.

Libra seeks connection, harmony, and balance, while Aries is focused on individuality, independence, and self-assertion. This Full Moon in the sign of the Scales illuminates the ongoing dance between self and other, connection and independence, highlighting the ways we navigate relationships and cultivate a sense of identity within partnerships.

The Libra Full Moon’s role within Eclipse Season

Despite not being an Eclipse, this Full Moon in Libra is a powerful one. Technically, we are still in Eclipse season since the current lunar cycle began with the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries that occurred on March 29. However, this Full Moon also marks the completion of a longer six-month cycle that started on October 2, 2024, with a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra. Eclipses’ effects are said to unfold for six months and around this time we will be able to gain a deeper awareness of the purpose of a process we began back then and witness the blossoming of the seeds we planted.

Moreover, the Full Moon’s ruler Venus is ending her retrograde journey as the Full Moon in Libra peaks. This is another indicator of the greater relevance of this event: these days, there is a higher likelihood of experiencing significant revelations, flashes of insight, and access to a new understanding of where we are at in our journey and what we are supposed to learn from our experiences.

Full Moon in Libra: Restoring Alignment

Libra is the sign through which we learn to see ourselves through others. The seventh archetype of the Zodiac and directly opposing Aries, the first one, Libra is the first sign through which we enter the social sphere and learn to relate with others from a place of equality.

Symbolized by the Scales, the only inanimate object in the Zodiac, Libra is associated with justice, fairness, and balance: these can only exist if the premise is objectivity. As an Air archetype, Libra highlights the importance of assessing situations from a neutral vantage point and recognizing our own biases and other unconscious influences that can impact our perception of what is fair, just, and balanced.

In the process of learning the art of balance and harmony, we naturally gravitate toward extremes to learn from direct experience what balance is and what balance isn’t. We have to navigate disharmony to understand true harmony, we have to go through confrontation and conflict to understand true peace. This Full Moon can act as a mirror and reflect back to us where we might have overcompensated, where we might have lost our connection with our truth in the name of a false sense of peace, and where we might be called to restore alignment in our relationships and within ourselves.

Full Moon opposite Chiron: Mirror on the Wall

The Full Moon in Libra is exactly opposing Chiron in Aries, conjunct with the Sun to the degree. Chiron, connected with the archetype of the Wounded Healer, represents both our deepest wounds and our path to healing. Named after the mythological centaur, teacher, and healer, Chiron reminds us that there is medicine in pain.

In Aries, Chiron emphasizes the weight of wounds connected to having the right to exist, asserting ourselves, going after what we desire, and taking initiative. It highlights the need to heal our relationship to masculine energy, regardless of our gender, and explore constructive and conscious ways to express our anger.

The opposition between Chiron and the Libra Full Moon acts as a “mirror on the wall” revealing unhealed wounds, dysfunctional patterns, and deep truths about ourselves and our relational maturation journey. This configuration highlights the need to tend to wounds and insecurities about who we are, our identity, our expression, and our self-actualization that impact how we show up in our bonds with others. It ultimately emphasizes the tension between our need for connection and our fear of losing ourselves in relationships.

Full Moon square Mars and Pluto

Sun and Moon also square Mars in Cancer as well as Pluto in Aquarius, which adds more layers of complexity and intensity to this event. Mars and Pluto are about to perfect their third and last opposition, which will go exact on April 26.

Mars is still in Cancer and in his post-shadow phase. This means we are still integrating what happened during his recent retrograde and understanding its deeper meaning, while we are invited to take action to align with the changes that have taken place inwardly.

Squares are 90º angles that create friction and discomfort, which push us toward action. The square between the Full Moon and Mars can amplify tendencies toward impulsivity, emotional reactivity, and a general feeling of frustration. This configuration can highlight the friction between our personal needs and desires and those of others and reveal unspoken tensions and conflicts that have been brewing underneath the surface.

The involvement of Pluto brings us into a deeper emotional terrain and emphasizes the impact of unconscious complexes, needs, and desires. Around this time, power struggles and trust issues could be exposed and we have an opportunity to gain new insights into fears and unhealed emotional wounds that impact the way we relate with others.

Full Moon trine Jupiter, quincunx Venus and Saturn

The Full Moon in Libra forms a quincunx (or inconjunct) aspect with stationary Venus and Saturn, conjunct in Pisces. Quincunxes are aspects of paradox and contradiction that invite us to find the root cause of chronic discomfort and force us to reconcile seemingly irreconcilable energies.

The quincunx between the Full Moon and Venus is particularly significant, as Venus rules this Full Moon. In the sign of Pisces, Venus feels very comfortable. However, Venus’ conjunction with Saturn and the tense aspect with the Moon emphasize issues of self-worth, self-love, and self-value that may be at the root of our relational struggle.

In Pisces, Venus may tend to over-give to others at her own expense or lose herself in relationships while the presence of Saturn, inconjunct with the Moon, may reflect an urge to prove our worth to others, feel responsible to care for them, or meet their expectations out of guilt. This configuration offers us an opportunity to gain awareness of, and work on shifting, over-giving and self-sacrificing patterns.

Lastly, the Libra Full Moon trines Jupiter in Gemini. This is an aspect of flow and ease that supports our ability to learn from and gain a deeper understanding of the meaning and purpose of the experiences and relationships we attract or gravitate toward. The Moon-Jupiter trine encourages us to embrace optimism, generosity, and a growth-oriented mindset and inspires us to create a more honest and authentic life.
