January has been a tense and intense month, marked by two powerful lunations and the electric Mars-Uranus alignment. During February, we will still feel some restlessness and a strong need for substantial change. Throughout the upcoming weeks, we will keep experiencing the tension between all the planets transiting Aquarius and Mars and Uranus in Taurus. The natural square aspect between the two Fixed signs Taurus and Aquarius will be very active. In particular, on February 17, we will witness the first of three exact squares between Saturn and Uranus, an ongoing theme of 2021 and a very relevant event for the entire collective.
Meanwhile, Mercury will be in Aquarius for the entire month, and in apparent retrograde motion until February 20. Mercury will inspire us to think for ourselves, to question our assumptions and our habitual thinking patterns, to reflect objectively upon the events that are taking place. As the Sun and Venus begin transiting Pisces, we enter a different dimension and the pressure on the Aquarius archetype slightly decreases. The Full Moon in Virgo happening at the end of the month will help us ground while reminding us to cultivate discernment and critical thinking.
Let’s have a look at the main astrological events taking place.
Venus enters Aquarius
Feb 1, 2021, 09:06 AM ET
As the new month starts, Venus leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius, joining the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn. We now have five planets transiting here, and the emphasis on Fixed signs is very strong. During the journey of the Goddess of Love through the sign of the Water Bearer, she will square Uranus and Mars, and form conjunctions with Mercury and Jupiter. Throughout the upcoming weeks, all Venusian domains such as our love and social life, our finances, our self-worth, and our value system are likely to be big areas of attention.
The transit of Venus from Capricorn to Aquarius reflects an increased desire to experiment and be free: we will naturally seek new ways to relate to ourselves and others, and explore different value systems, ways to make an income, or manage our finances.
New Moon in Aquarius
Feb 11, 2021, 2:05 PM ET
The Sun and the Moon join forces in Aquarius, inviting us to cultivate objectivity and impartiality. The Sun, the Moon, and Mercury will be forming a supportive trine with the North Node of the Moon in Gemini. Their harmonic alignment has the potential to facilitate the intellectual understanding of our experiences and their role in our personal development journey.
The square between the New Moon and Mars in Taurus may bring up some frustration and tension, that has the potential to promote change and motivate us to change our life for the better. As the New Moon takes place, Venus forms a conjunction with Jupiter in Aquarius, inviting us to question our beliefs and assumptions around relationships, finances, love, and abundance, while increasing our need for social connections and pleasurable experiences.
Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus
Feb 17, 2021, 2:08 PM ET
The square between Saturn and Uranus will be active for the entire 2021, and this is their first exact alignment. While Uranus in Taurus reflects disruptions to our stability and a strong need to break free from stagnation, Saturn in Aquarius urges us to focus on long-term solutions and innovative alternatives to the current systems. We are likely to feel an ongoing back and forth between our attempts to move away from the old, and the opposite extreme of wanting to go back to familiar attachments that represent safety.
While the Saturn-Uranus alignment reflects a long-term global collective shift, we are going to feel this tension both on a global socio-cultural level and on a personal level. Venus in Aquarius is forming a square to Mars in Taurus almost simultaneously: we may experience a sense of crisis relative to our needs, our values, and our desires, which will manifest mostly within our relationships.
Sun enters Pisces
Feb 18, 2021, 05:44 AM ET
The yearly transit of the Sun through the last Zodiac sign is an invitation to connect with something greater than ourselves and with a reality that exists beyond space and time. The transition from Aquarius to Pisces represents the shift from the collective mind to the collective emotional body, from thinking to feeling. Pisces season is a time for forgiveness, surrender, attunement to unconditional love, and acceptance of what we meet on our path.
It is also a time in which our delusions, illusions, and fantasies can be uncovered. The Sun’s transit through Pisces shines a light on what we need to release. Experiences of disillusionment tend to be perceived as uncomfortable and painful, yet they help us see clearly and if we embrace them, they can promote the deepest spiritual growth.
Mercury stations Direct in Aquarius
Feb 20, 2021, 7:52 PM ET
When a planet stations direct after a retrograde, we experience a substantial energetic shift. We are now encouraged to implement what we reflected upon during the previous weeks. We have the opportunity to take action from a different level of consciousness and a different understanding of reality gained during the cycle of introspection and readjustment.
Mercury stationing direct in Aquarius represents the time to apply the insights and concretize the ideas we had while Mercury was retrograde. The planet of logic, communication, and linear thinking is now inviting us to act to concretize our visions, hopes, and dreams.
Venus enters Pisces
Feb 25, 2021, 08:12 AM ET
The Goddess of Beauty and Love leaves Aquarius and enters Pisces, where is traditionally considered exalted. The expression of Venus is enhanced and supported in the sign of the Fish. This is a great influence for any spiritual, artistic, and creative endeavor, as both Pisces and Venus are connected to art, music, dance, poetry, and beauty.
However, within the Pisces archetype, there is no separation, no boundaries, no limits. For this reason, during this transit, we need to take care of not losing touch with our sense of self, our personal values, needs, and preferences, disappearing into someone else’s reality or fantasy.
Full Moon in Virgo
Feb 27, 2021, 03:17 AM ET
The Full Moon in Virgo ends the calendar month with a strong invitation to cultivate discernment, think critically, be practical, and make decisions from a grounded place. At this time, a sense of crisis may arise. The feeling of not being able to make sense out of anything can inspire many of us to dive deeper into self-analysis and to commit to working on ourselves to be able to improve reality and be of service to the collective. The harmonic trine between the Moon and Uranus in Taurus will support the creative integration of the changes that have been taking place throughout the first half of the lunar cycle.
February 2021 Astrology Update: Our Invitation
During February, we will notice a fair amount of friction between the past and the future, between the old and the new, between freedom and order, between our natural attachment to security and comfort, and the imperative to evolve and grow. Squares demand change, they make us feel uncomfortable and show us what does not work. This friction can manifest in different areas of our lives and will happen simultaneously on an individual, social, and global level. You will feel the tension more strongly than others if you have any planets in the first half of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius.
With lots of action going on in Fixed signs, it is crucial to avoid stagnation and remain flexible: cultivate versatility and adaptability, don’t be afraid to change plans, and embark on new endeavors. 2021 is a year of adjustments and experimentation, and February is just one chapter of it. Remain open to what comes up, believe in yourself, and trust your vision. Don’t give up if your first attempts at something don’t turn out as imagined: new doors will open for you, and new opportunities are always available.
