While the Moon keeps waning, a new calendar month starts. The first half of April will be defined by the strong activation of the Fire element, the Yang polarity, and the Cardinal modality. Aries season is about new beginnings: at this time of the year, the Cosmos is encouraging us to open new paths, gain experience, and learn through a process of trial and error. Moreover, all planets will be in direct motion until April 27, when Pluto stations retrograde: the first weeks of the month represent a favorable time for action, decision making, and forward movement.
During the second half of April, the overall atmosphere is going to shift from Yang to Yin, especially after Mars enters Cancer. Taurus season will be characterized by the prominence of the Earth element and the Fixed modality, as we will have four planets in the sign of the Bull. However, thanks to the presence of Uranus, Taurus season will be everything but boring. Venus, Mercury, and the Sun will all form conjunctions with the modern ruler of Aquarius, which will also oppose the Full Moon in Scorpio.
Let’s have a look at the main energetic shifts we are going to experience.
Mercury enters Aries
April 3, 2021, 11:42 PM ET
We begin the month with Mercury entering Aries and joining the Sun and Venus in the sign of the Warrior, increasing the activation of the Fire element in the skies. While Mercury in Pisces expresses in dreamy, soft, and sometimes even melancholic ways, Mercury in Aries is enthusiastic, bold, and unfiltered.
We are going to feel a big shift in how we think, communicate, learn, and perceive the world. This transit, lasting until April 19, encourages us to speak our truth fearlessly and to explore how we can be assertive and direct without being aggressive, rude, or intimidating. New Moon in Aries
April 11, 2021, 10:30 PM ET
We are experiencing the start of the first lunar cycle since the beginning of the New Astrological Year and the March Equinox. The Aries New Moon increases the energy of initiation and action. This cosmic event lights us up, igniting our passion, stimulating our need for adventure and excitement, and inviting us to trust our instinct and desires.
Mars, ruler of the New Moon, will be in a square aspect to Neptune: their alignment may reflect a sense of confusion and disorientation, a feeling of not knowing how or when to take action, what to invest in, and what to focus on. Yet, this aspect comes with a significant amount of inspiration and has the potential to enhance our imagination: Mars square Neptune gives us tools to creatively solve any issue or challenge that might come up.
Meanwhile, the Sun, the Moon, and Venus in Aries will all be in a square aspect to Pluto in Capricorn. These alignments will add a fair amount of tension, highlighting power struggles and control dynamics, increasing our need to break free from restriction, which will play out both on a personal and a collective level. Nonetheless, the tension of these squares is highly motivating: it can indeed be used as fuel to move forward and overcome obstacles and limitations.
Venus enters Taurus
April 14, 2021, 2:22 PM ET
Shortly after the New Moon takes place, Venus leaves Aries and enters Taurus, one of the signs where the Goddess of Beauty and Love is traditionally considered in domicile. This shift will redirect part of our energy and focus back on ourselves and our inner world.
While Venus is in Taurus, we are encouraged to reconsider our value system, reflect on the foundation of our sense of self-worth, and on our relationship with pleasure and abundance. Venus in Taurus is about self-nurturance, receptivity, and self-love: this transit invites us to reconnect with our senses and with our physical body and to embody deeper levels of self-trust and self-reliance.
Sun & Mercury enter Taurus
April 19, 2021, 4:34 PM ET & April 19 06:30 AM ET
Taurus season begins with the Sun and Mercury entering the sign of the Bull almost simultaneously. Fixed Earth is the most prominent energy at the moment: Taurus season is about slowing down and consolidating what we started during the journey of the Sun through Aries.
The upcoming month is about grounding, stabilizing, and connecting with our center, with a stronger awareness of our personal talents, our values, and our resources. Taurus season increases our need for stability and security, yet, the influence of Uranus will spice things up, accelerating our individuation journey and making sure that we don’t get too comfortable.
Venus conjunct Uranus in Taurus
April 22, 2021, 9:01 PM ET
Venus joining the planet of liberation, rebellion, and sudden shocks may reflect important volatility in the world economy and financial markets, which is likely to last for the entire week, as the Full Moon in Scorpio will also aspect Uranus. Both Taurus and Venus correlate with finances and reflect the way we manage our money and our material possessions.
On an individual level, there may be surprising encounters, changes in our relationships, and, again, sudden shifts in our financial situation, while our need for freedom, adventure, and new experiences spontaneously increases.
Mars enters Cancer
April 23, 2021, 07:49 AM ET
After two months in Gemini, Mars enters Cancer: once again a relevant energetic shift takes place. Mars in Gemini is chatty and direct, craving movement and constant mental stimulation. Mars in Cancer instead works in an indirect and cautious fashion. During this transit, our energy levels tend to be changeable: our vitality will have a direct correlation with both lunar phases and our emotional state.
Mars in Cancer is about generating conditions of safety and security in which we can thrive and flourish. Until June 11, our emotions become the fuel for our actions, and being emotionally involved in what we are doing is what leads us to initiate and make progress. Mars in Cancer gives us the opportunity to elaborate, process, and express our emotions through activities that involve the physical body.
Full Super Moon in Scorpio
April 26, 2021, 11:31 PM ET
Every Full Moon in Scorpio culminates an intense cycle of inner growth and brings to light issues of trust, control, and power. Scorpio and Pluto rule the process of evolution and metamorphosis: these archetypes are linked to psychological death, rebirth, and regeneration.
The Scorpio Full Moon challenges us to release our resistance to change and to overcome our limitations by remaining available to continuously transform. This Full Moon will clearly show us what attachments we need to let go of in order to keep growing, bringing the spotlight on our fears of loss, powerlessness, and betrayal.
The Full Moon will square Saturn in Aquarius, while the Sun, Mercury, and Venus will be conjunct Uranus in Taurus. The influence of Uranus is likely to highlight, once again, possible disruptions in the world economy. We might receive unexpected news and revelations, and we may face issues and dilemmas relative to both personal finances and shared resources.
The presence of Saturn in this configuration may reflect some level of resistance and fear of change. Saturn always offers us an invitation to show up as self-responsible adults, allowing us to gain deeper emotional maturity and improve our capacity for self-regulation.
Pluto stations Retrograde in Capricorn
Apr 27, 2021, 4:01 PM ET
After a few months with all planets in direct motion, Pluto stations retrograde in Capricorn, inviting reassessment, reflection, and self-analysis. When Pluto turns retrograde, our focus internalizes, and our self-analysis deepens. Pluto retrograde is an invitation to reconnect with our inner power and strength and to carefully examine our motivations, intentions, and desires.
Until October, Pluto invites us to challenge our existing limitations through deeper self-confrontation, encouraging us to dive fearlessly into our unconscious material to speed up our growth process.
April 2021 Astrology Update: Our Invitation
April, in particular the second half of it, is likely to be a month of acceleration and unpredictability. The important activation of Uranus will speed up our individuation and deconditioning journey. Uranus wants to make sure that we don’t get too attached to our comfort zone or anything else which prevents or restricts us from growing. While these types of transits tend to be perceived as disruptive, their ultimate purpose is to set us free from what is limiting us and open up new paths and possibilities.
These upcoming weeks are likely to bring a lot of action and some surprises: don’t be afraid to modify your plans, stay open, and release the misconception that only one path will lead you where you desire to be. The Universe is encouraging us to embrace change, trust life, and learn to enjoy the present moment despite the inevitable uncertainty and discomfort.
