On September 22, 08:44 AM EST, the Sun leaves Virgo, and Libra season 2024 begins, bringing the spotlight on our ongoing quest for balance while inspiring us to pursue harmony by embracing the Middle Way. This time of the year highlights the importance of relationships and invites us to reflect on how we tend to engage with others and on the dance between giving and receiving in our connections.
The Sun’s ingress into Libra is especially relevant for individuals born with planets or angles in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn).

The concept of the Middle Way has its roots in Buddhist philosophy. Before his enlightenment, Siddhartha Gautama, later known as Buddha, experienced two extreme lifestyles: one of indulgence as a prince, and one of asceticism as a monk. However, neither path led him to the peace he was seeking. It was only when he discovered the Middle Way, avoiding both excess and deprivation, that he found enlightenment.
Buddhist philosophy encourages moderation and mindfulness and teaches us that all kinds of extremes lead to suffering: this is very resonant with the essence of the Libra archetype. During Libra season, we have an opportunity to pay attention to where we tend to gravitate toward extremes, what is out of balance in our lives, where we lack moderation, and where more harmony is needed. The Sun’s transit through the sign of the Scales encourages us to gravitate toward the Middle Way and see what happens in our lives as a result of that choice.

During Libra season 2024, we are going to experience a New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 2 and a Full Moon in Aries on October 17.
The New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse is the final Eclipse in Libra for this cycle, as we won’t experience another one in this sign until 2033. This event invites radical changes in our relationships and relating patterns and sets in motion a drastic renewal of how we connect with others, of our expectations, of how we show up in our connections, of the choices we make, of the people we surround ourselves with.
Taking place on the South Node of the Moon, conjunct Mercury, and square Mars, this Eclipse asks us to purge the old, release familiar habits, and let go of relationships that run their course to make space for new ones. It is an opportunity to embody a new version of ourselves and, as a result, welcome different kinds of people into our lives.
The upcoming Full Moon in Aries is an extremely relevant event as it represents the culmination point of a six-month cycle that began on April 8, 2024, with the New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Aries conjunct Chiron. This Full Moon happens at 24º Aries: it will again be conjunct with Chiron, retrograde at 21º Aries, and square both retrograde Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Cancer.
Despite not being an Eclipse, the upcoming Aries Full Moon is a powerful one. Around this time, we can expect intense emotional releases and opportunities to recognize and heal deep-seated wounds. The activation of both Pluto and Mars heightens the likelihood of experiencing separations, conflicts, and power struggles, as long-accumulated tension finally erupts to the surface, revealing where we settled for comfortable lies instead of facing the uncomfortable truth.
Quest for Balance
As Libra season 2024 begins, Venus leaves the sign of the Scales and enters Scorpio almost simultaneously. Venus is going to remain in Scorpio until October 17, almost for the entirety of Libra season: this is an invitation for us to deepen our connections and strive for greater emotional intimacy, not only with other people but first and foremost with ourselves.
