Jupiter will station retrograde on May 14th in Capricorn. It will remain retrograde until September 12th.
Jupiter is joining Pluto, Saturn and Venus who have all recently shifted into retrograde motion. This symbolises that the tables are turning and our collective focus is shifting. We have been living through a time of many changes in our external reality. How we collectively gather and operate has significantly shifted; as these retrogrades occur we are given a chance to slow down and take inventory of what exactly is happening.
Jupiter Retrograde: Pulling Back, Then Launching Forwards
Retrogrades are not times to fear. They are opportunities to reflect and review. Think about a bow and arrow, to shoot the arrow we have to pull the bow back. Retrogrades are similar in that sometimes we have to pull back before we can launch forward.
Jupiter has been transiting Capricorn since December 2, 2019. During the course of the next few months, the planet will retrace its steps and assess what exactly has occurred.
Capricorn energy is the plan, the structure and the system. It’s the rules and regulations. It’s the authorities that write the rules and the leaders we choose to follow. Jupiter in Capricorn has some high standards and doesn’t settle for inefficiency. It could feel like the world is just not letting up, but this energy also seeks to teach us some advanced lessons.
Personal Evolution
Jupiter turning retrograde is shifting the hard work within. During this time we are asked to re-organize our inner operating systems. We are asked to evolve. We get to write our own personal constitutions and live life based on our morals. We become alchemists as we transform within. This personal evolution ripples out into the collective consciousness.
“When something evolves, everything around that thing evolves as well.” ― Paulo Coelho
The thing about life on Earth is that we all have free will. To a certain extent we can make choices about how we act in the world. Recently, many of our options have shifted. Certain things we used to take for granted are no longer on the table. We might be feeling overwhelmed, stressed or full of fear during these current events.
“Then, we warriors of light must be prepared to have patience in difficult times and to know that the Universe is conspiring in our favor even though we may not understand how.” ― Paulo Coelho
Jupiter Retrograde: Connecting to Our Inner Universe
As Jupiter shifts into retrograde we are invited to connect to the Universe within us. We are asked to connect to the path of our hearts, instead of looking to the external world for clarity. We are shifting the focus from the waves on the surface of the water, to the stillness of the depths.
Jupiter retrograde in Capricorn is asking us to make decisions about the lives we want to live and the experiences we want to create. Capricorn energy is all about cause and effect. If we study hard, we will pass the test. If we get enough sleep, we will feel rested. If we plant a seed and tend to it, the plant will grow. We could even think about this cause and effect as karma.
Taking Ownership of Our Actions
Jupiter is the planet of abundance, expansion, good fortune and synchronicity. It’s an energy that’s larger than our human perceptions and can often blow our minds. Jupiter is a lot of energy and it’s pretty extra. Whether or not we choose to believe it, during this transit we are asked to become aware of our participation in the systems of reality and the consequences our actions have.
“There is only one way to learn. It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey.” ― Paulo Coelho
We are becoming hyper aware of personal journeys. It can be a humbling experience and we might be left feeling guilty. We may feel proud of ourselves or inspired. We could feel shame or blame. Basically, this Jupiter retrograde is not going to allow us to just pass the blame off to someone else. We must take ownership of how we contribute to the larger picture.
Let’s say we love to stay up late, but our partner wakes up early for work. Our lifestyle will have an effect on the person we live with; especially if we are making noise when they are trying to sleep. Let’s say that someone starts a rumour about a friend of ours. We didn’t start the rumor but we listened to it and we then told someone else. We are playing into the gossip. Let’s say we choose to shop locally and support a small business. Doing so supports a local family. The consequences of our actions ripple out into the micro and the macro. Our actions make up how we experience reality, and they uphold certain institutions and establishments.
Jupiter Retrograde: Remembering Our Roles
“No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn’t know it.” ― Paulo Coelho
It’s time to remember our roles and how important they are. If everyone chose to stop shopping somewhere that was causing harm, that organization would have to close. There is an immense power in our actions, but the thing to remember is that we are only responsible for ourselves. Event though it would be nice to imagine everyone coming together, there will always be a paradox of separation on Earth.
Committing to Our Path
This means we can only become committed to taking “right action” in our lives. And then allow others the space to make their own choices. It’s when we start to judge others or become consumed by their choices that we stray from our own personal paths. We can fiercely commit to our journey while leaving space for others to make their own decisions.
“It’s one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it’s another to think that yours is the only path.” ― Paulo Coelho
This Jupiter retrograde is not the time to judge or become obsessed with the actions and opinions of others. This is a time of taking control of the realities we are creating through our individual actions. We must take responsibility for ourselves and the energy we are putting out into the world.
“If someone isn’t what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.” ― Paulo Coelho
Are we pointing the finger of blame at someone or something else? Are we shutting down other’s opinions because they differ from ours? Are we closing off our minds to things we simply do not understand? This transit is not about blaming ourselves, but it is about raising the standards we live by. How are we acting? What impact do our actions have?
Jupiter Retrograde: The Choices We Make
The choices we make now have a huge impact on the future of the planet. 2020 is a year of epic planetary alignments, one of these transits is Jupiter conjunction Pluto. This occurred on April 4th (tap here to read Jupiter conjunct Pluto article) and it will occur two more times throughout 2020, June 30th and November 12th.
These transits are inviting us to build a new Earth. We are the construction crews. Ideally we want to work together, but before we can all agree, we have to get honest about how we are behaving.
Becoming Better
Are we giving it our all? Are we being the best version of ourselves? Jupiter retrograde in Capricorn is asking us to hold ourselves to a higher standard. We can no longer sit back and hope everything works out. Instead, we have to take action towards what we want to see.
“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” ― Paulo Coelho
This is how we can impact the collective. This is how we create our own karma. So during this time, let’s look at ourselves in the mirror and get hyper aware of what we are doing, and what we aren’t. This transit might be a wake up call for some, and a celebration for others. Being kind and compassionate towards ourselves is necessary. Now is the time to decide what world we want to live in. Honesty is the key that will unlock the doors in front of us. But any open door requires a decision to walk through it.
“Making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.” ― Paulo Coelho
